GreenWorks! service-learning grants up to $5,000 are available to PLT-trained educators at schools and youth organizations for environmental neighborhood improvement projects that involve youth with their community.
The deadline for applications for PLT’s second round of funding for this year is October 31, 2008. Visit http://www.plt.org/cms/pages/21_22_18.html for grant guidelines, and an application.
Schools, youth organizations, and other groups may apply online for a grant to implement a “learning-by-doing” environmental project that:
- partners PLT educators and their students with local businesses or community organizations
- combines academics with community service
- engages elementary through college-age students in active learning about the environment
- provides opportunities for student leadership.

To all science teachers from the Denver Earth Science Project:
Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc., and National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) are pleased to announce the 19th annual Toyota TAPESTRY Grants for Science Teachers program. This year Toyota will award $550,000 in grants to
K-12 teachers of science. A total of 50 large grants of up to $10,000
each, along with 20-30 mini-grants of up to $2,500 each, will be
awarded. Categories include environmental science, integrating
literacy and science, and physical science. Toyota has awarded 986
grants totaling over $8 million in this premiere
nationwide grant program. For further information and to begin the

available. All 50 large grant winners receive an all-expenses paid
trip to the NSTA National Conference on Science Education in New

to high school teachers to encourage the inclusion of environmental education into all high school subjects - from chemistry to art -
and to make it easier for teachers to access best practices online.
Get started now. Submit your proposal by June 20th, 2008.
The Challenge Grants, for up to $10,000, will support teachers and schools who want to:
- integrate more environmental education into their high school curriculum,
- expand their course curriculum to include more environmental themes, and
- develop their professional capacity to incorporate more environmental education into their teaching.
New to environmental education? Our professional development grants will provide funding for continuing education up to $1,600.
The Professional Development Grants will be awarded to support teachers new to the field of environmental education. NEEF in partnership with the University of Wisconsin’s Stevens Point Environmental Education and Training Partnership (EETAP), will offer professional development grants of $1,600 for two on-line courses offered by the University.

The foundation makes grants of $10,000 to $100,000 to K-12 schools, colleges, universities, and trade schools that benefit youth and scientific education. The foundation seeks programs with the following characteristics: scientific, dreamful (imaginative), creative, humanistic, youthful, innovative, and forward thinking. The next deadline is February 1.

Toshiba America Foundation offers grants for projects designed by US K-12 classroom teachers to improve the quality of science and math education. Grant requests of more than $5,000 are reviewed twice a year. The deadlines are February 1 adn August 1.

Fund for Teachers recognizes outstanding teachers by awarding grants to support professional development opportunities of their own design. Applicants must propose a summer activity and explain how the activity will make the applicant a better teacher; how the applicant will implement his or her improved skills or capacity in the classroom; and how all of this will benefit students, curricula, and school. Teachers may request funding for up to $5,000 per individual and up to $7,500 per team project. Apply by January 31.

The Myra Sadker Foundation awards grants and scholarships to students and teachers in K-12 and post secondary education. Projects and studies related to gender equity can be awarded up to $2,000. The deadline for some of these awards is December 1st. Please share this information with colleagues.

The Target Field Trip Grant program will award grants to schools across the United States for field trips in the spring of 2008 such as museum, environmental, or science projects; artistic and cultural experiences; and civics or community service projects. Up to 1,600 grants of up to $1,000 each will be awarded in February 2008.
